blackhorse Jan 17 2017 I been watching too many video's. Last one I watched they stirred until it was finished. I did stir once the alcohol mostly had burned off.
Will watch the run for the cure video again.
Is the oil still usable even though it is dark brown and thick? Will try out and let you know.
Can the oil be used now or best to wait for 2 - 3 months?
Thanks
Jan 18 2017 When it is on the coffee mug warmer I will stir it around a bit to eliminate the potential of over cooking on the bottom. It also aids in the purging of the solvent.
The oil should be usable. You will have to sample some to be sure.
It can be used now. With RSO, since it is heat decarbed it is ready to use as soon as the solvent is purged. Sometimes it takes 72 hours of sitting before feeling the full effects.
The way I make my RSO, it is about 2 to 4 weeks of storage before the full effects are felt because I am extra cautious of the heat, very gentle. I may even allow it to air purge a couple of times during that 2 - 4 weeks.
The only time you need to wait 2 to 3 months is when no heat was used to decarb, like doing a QWET or QWISO extraction. It must be kept in a liquid state for it to naturally decarb.
Buds can naturally decarb too, but that takes 4 to 6 months. It is very unpredictable on when and how hard it will hit you if you ingest the bud directly.
blackhorse Jan 18 2017 The oil is still good. Just a bit thick.
Next time I will use the stainless cup and slowly finish off.
This is an easy process, once all the supplies were purchased. Set up the rice cooker outside in the garden, worked well as it was out of sight and secure.
Thank you for all the help.
More info as the oil is used.
Jan 19 2017 just be sure to have proper ventilation. not just for flammability reasons, but breathing the fumes is not good.
blackhorse Jan 20 2017 Used a box fan hanging from the chain link top, it worked very well.
The oil doesn't taste burnt at all.
Lucked out this time.
Small doses to start with, will increase slowly.
Hopefully the oil will help with the seizures.
